At Mama-Pop, we place great importance on the protection of your personal information. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what your rights are. It applies to the mama-pop.com site (the "Site") and to orders placed thereon. It falls under Quebec's Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector and Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Information we collect

  • Information you provide to us: your name, shipping and billing addresses, email address, phone number if provided, the content of your communications with our customer service, and, where applicable, reviews you publish.
  • Payment information: this is processed directly by our payment providers (Shopify and PayPal). We never have access to your full card numbers.
  • Information collected automatically: your IP address, the type of browser and device used, and pages visited, through cookies and similar technologies.

Why we use it

  • to process, ship, and track your orders;
  • to respond to your questions and process your returns, refunds, and warranty requests;
  • to prevent fraud and ensure the security of the Site and payments;
  • to comply with our legal, accounting, and tax obligations;
  • to measure Site traffic and improve it;
  • with your consent, to send you offers via email or SMS and measure the effectiveness of our online advertisements.

We only collect the information necessary for these purposes and do not use it for other purposes without your consent, unless permitted or required by law.

Your consent

When you place an order, you consent to our use of your information to process and deliver it. For any other purpose, including marketing, we request your consent separately, for example by means of a checkbox during checkout.

If you provide your phone number, you may receive SMS messages related to tracking your order. Promotional and cart abandonment SMS messages are only sent if you have consented; they do not exceed four per month. You may withdraw your consent at any time: reply STOP to an SMS, click the unsubscribe link included in each of our emails, or write to us at contact@mama-pop.com.

Cookies and tracking technologies

The Site uses cookies:

  • essential, necessary for the Site's operation (cart, payment, security);
  • statistical, which help us understand how the Site is used;
  • advertising, placed by us or by advertising platforms like Meta (Facebook and Instagram), which serve to measure our advertisements and present you with relevant offers.

By browsing the Site, you agree to the use of these cookies. You may refuse or delete them at any time in your browser settings; however, certain Site functions, such as the cart, may no longer work. You may also manage personalized advertisements in your Facebook and Instagram account settings.

Disclosure of your information

We do not sell your personal information. We disclose it only to the extent necessary:

  • to Shopify, which hosts the Site and our order data;
  • to our payment providers;
  • to our logistics partners and carriers who prepare and deliver your orders;
  • to our email and SMS delivery tools;
  • to advertising and statistical platforms, according to your cookie choices;
  • to authorities, when required by law.

These providers may only use your information for the services they provide to us.

Information processed outside of Quebec

Some of your information may be stored or processed outside of Quebec, notably elsewhere in Canada, in the United States, and in Europe, as well as by our logistics partners located outside of Canada who prepare and ship orders. It may then be subject to the laws of those territories. In accordance with the law, before disclosing your information outside of Quebec, we ensure it will receive adequate protection.

Retention

We retain your information for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy and to comply with our legal, accounting, and tax obligations. It is then securely destroyed or anonymized.

Security

We take reasonable security measures to protect your information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. Payments are encrypted and processed according to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). In the event of a confidentiality incident presenting a risk of serious injury, we will notify you, as well as the relevant authorities, as provided by law.

Your rights

You may at any time:

  • request access to the personal information we hold about you;
  • have it rectified if it is inaccurate, incomplete, or ambiguous;
  • withdraw your consent to its use;
  • request that we stop disseminating your information or that any hyperlink associated with your name be de-indexed, in cases provided for by law;
  • obtain a copy of the information you provided to us in a structured and commonly used technological format.

To exercise these rights, write to us at contact@mama-pop.com. We may ask you to confirm your identity. We respond within 30 days of receiving your request.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (www.cai.gouv.qc.ca) or, if you reside elsewhere in Canada, with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (www.priv.gc.ca).

Minors

The Site is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information concerning a person under the age of 14 without the consent of the holder of parental authority.

Changes to this policy

We may modify this policy to reflect changes in our practices or the law. The current version is always posted on this page, with its update date.
